About Hmong recordings

Hmong is written in the Romanized Popular Alphabet (RPA), where final consonant letters mark the tone (for example b, j, v, s, g, m). White Hmong and Green Hmong differ; little recorded Hmong exists, so check the result.

How to transcribe a Hmong recording

  1. Upload the file (up to 5 GB) or paste a link from YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or another platform.
  2. Keep Hmong as the spoken language (or auto-detect), add a translation if you want one, and pay once.
  3. Download the Hmong transcript as plain text, text with timestamps and SRT subtitles.

An honest note on accuracy

Automatic speech recognition has seen far less recorded Hmong than English or Spanish, so expect more mistakes in names, place names and specialist terms, especially in noisy recordings. Clear speech close to the microphone gives the best result. If a paid file cannot be transcribed at all, you are refunded automatically.

Translate Hmong audio into English or another language

Choose a translation language before paying and you get two versions: the original Hmong transcript and a line-by-line translation, both as TXT and as SRT with the same timings. That makes it easy to check the translation against the original, or to publish subtitles in both languages.

Questions

White Hmong or Green Hmong?

Both are written in the Romanized Popular Alphabet. Check the result carefully.

How accurate is Hmong transcription?

Usable for clear speech, with more corrections than in English or Spanish. Speech models have heard far less Hmong, so names, place names, numbers and specialist terms are where to look first. Background music, overlapping voices and phone-line audio make it harder still.

Can I translate Hmong audio to English?

Yes. Pick English (or any of 141 other languages) as the translation language before paying. You get the original Hmong transcript and the translation, both as TXT and SRT.

What if the recording mixes Hmong and English?

Leave the spoken language on auto-detect. Each part is written in the language it is spoken in, so English sentences stay in English instead of being forced into Hmong.

Is Hmong supported as well as English?

It is supported, but less recorded Hmong exists for training speech models, so the transcript usually needs more checking than an English one. The price is the same, and a file that fails entirely is refunded automatically.
