Maltese is a Semitic language written in the Latin alphabet, with ċ, ġ, ħ, ż and għ. Maltese speech mixes freely with English and Italian words.
Automatic speech recognition has seen far less recorded Maltese than English or Spanish, so expect more mistakes in names, place names and specialist terms, especially in noisy recordings. Clear speech close to the microphone gives the best result. If a paid file cannot be transcribed at all, you are refunded automatically.
Choose a translation language before paying and you get two versions: the original Maltese transcript and a line-by-line translation, both as TXT and as SRT with the same timings. That makes it easy to check the translation against the original, or to publish subtitles in both languages.
Yes, Maltese is written with ċ, ġ, għ, ħ and ż.
Usable for clear speech, with more corrections than in English or Spanish. Speech models have heard far less Maltese, so names, place names, numbers and specialist terms are where to look first. Background music, overlapping voices and phone-line audio make it harder still.
Yes. Pick English (or any of 141 other languages) as the translation language before paying. You get the original Maltese transcript and the translation, both as TXT and SRT.
Leave the spoken language on auto-detect. Each part is written in the language it is spoken in, so English sentences stay in English instead of being forced into Maltese.
It is supported, but less recorded Maltese exists for training speech models, so the transcript usually needs more checking than an English one. The price is the same, and a file that fails entirely is refunded automatically.
