About Tibetan recordings

Tibetan is written in Tibetan script. It works for dharma talks and teachings; chanted prayers are harder than speech. Lhasa and exile Tibetan give the best results, while Amdo and Kham dialects are harder.

How to make Tibetan subtitles

  1. Upload the video or audio (up to 5 GB) or paste a link from YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or another platform.
  2. Keep Tibetan as the spoken language (or auto-detect), add a translation if you also want subtitles in another language, and pay once.
  3. Download the Tibetan SRT file and add it to your video in YouTube Studio, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, VLC or any player that reads SRT.

What the Tibetan SRT file contains

Numbered subtitle blocks, each with a start time, an end time and the Tibetan text spoken in between. It is plain UTF-8 text, so you can open it in any text editor, correct a name or a word and upload it again. You also get the full transcript as TXT, with and without timestamps.

Subtitles in Tibetan and in a second language

Choose a translation language before paying and you get two SRT files with identical timings: the original Tibetan subtitles and the translated ones. One translation is included in the price, so bilingual or translated captions for YouTube, courses and social video take no extra work.

Captions for YouTube, social video and editing

YouTube Studio accepts SRT files directly under Subtitles. Most video editors import SRT as a caption track that you can style and burn into the picture; for TikTok, Reels or Shorts you can paste the text into the app's own caption tool. The file is yours to edit and reuse, with no watermark.

Written in Tibetan, not in Latin letters

Your transcript comes back in Tibetan, the script Tibetan is normally written in, not as a romanised approximation. The SRT file is plain UTF-8 text, so the characters display correctly in YouTube Studio, VLC, Premiere Pro and other modern players and editors.

An honest note on accuracy

Automatic speech recognition has seen far less recorded Tibetan than English or Spanish, so expect more mistakes in names, place names and specialist terms, especially in noisy recordings. Clear speech close to the microphone gives the best result. If a paid file cannot be transcribed at all, you are refunded automatically.

Questions

How do I add the Tibetan SRT to a YouTube video?

In YouTube Studio open the video, go to Subtitles, add Tibetan as a language, choose Upload file, select "With timing" and pick the SRT file. The captions appear once YouTube has processed them.

Are the subtitle timings accurate?

Each subtitle block starts and ends with the speech it contains, based on the timing of the recognised words. Long silences, music and overlapping voices can shift a line slightly; you can adjust any time in a subtitle editor or a plain text editor.

Can I get Tibetan subtitles translated to English?

Yes. Pick English (or any of 141 other languages) as the translation language before paying. You get the Tibetan SRT and a English SRT with the same timings.

How much do Tibetan subtitles cost?

$1 for a file up to 60 minutes and $3 up to 10 hours, the same for every language. You see the exact price after the file is checked and before you pay, and there is no subscription.

Will the Tibetan transcript be in Tibetan?

Yes. The text is written in Tibetan, the way Tibetan is normally written, not transliterated into Latin letters.

Is Tibetan supported as well as English?

It is supported, but less recorded Tibetan exists for training speech models, so the transcript usually needs more checking than an English one. The price is the same, and a file that fails entirely is refunded automatically.
