Turn Voice Memos and phone recordings into text

OneDollarTranscript turns Voice Memos and phone recordings into text: save a recording from the iPhone or Mac Voice Memos app (an .m4a file) or any Android recorder, upload it, pay once ($1 up to 60 minutes, $3 up to 10 hours) and download the full transcript as TXT and SRT. Lectures, interviews, meetings and ideas recorded on your phone become searchable text. No account.

How to transcribe a Voice Memo

  1. In Voice Memos, tap the recording, then the ⋯ button, and choose Save to Files (or Share).
  2. On this page, tap Choose an audio or video file and pick the recording from Files.
  3. Check the length and price we measured, then pay once.
  4. Download the transcript as TXT, TXT with timestamps or SRT.

Long recordings are fine

Recorded a whole lecture, a day of interviews or a long meeting? Recordings up to 10 hours are one order. Uploads are sent in small pieces, so they can finish on mobile data.

Any recorder app

Recordings from Android recorder apps (.m4a, .mp3, .amr, .3gp), dictaphones and field recorders (.wav, .mp3) work the same way, up to 5 GB per file.

Any language, plus translation

The spoken language is detected automatically across 142 languages. Add a translation language before paying to get a second version in another language.

What you get

A clean transcript and a subtitle file.

Every order includes both files. Download them as soon as the transcript is ready.

Questions

Can I upload straight from my phone?

Yes. The page works in Safari and Chrome on phones. Save the recording to Files first, then choose it here.

What if the recording is quiet or far from the speaker?

Quiet speech is often still usable, but accuracy drops with distance from the microphone and with background noise. If a paid file cannot be transcribed at all, you are refunded automatically.

How much does a 90-minute recording cost?

$3, because it is longer than 60 minutes.

How much does a transcript cost?

$1 per file up to 60 minutes, or $3 per file up to 10 hours, paid once. The price comes from the real length of your file and is shown before you pay. No subscription, no credits, no minimums.
